Common questions about living in Valencia

How do I register for empadronamiento in Valencia?
File the procedure «Altas y cambios de domicilio en el Padrón Municipal» (code PA.GP.11): online at sede.valencia.es with an electronic signature, by phone, or in person with a cita previa at the Plaza del Ayuntamiento office (entrance on Periodista Azzati, 2), the OAC Tabacalera (C/ Amadeu de Savoia, 11) or a district Junta Municipal. Book the cita previa at valencia.es/cas/tramites/cita-previa or by calling 010. Foreigners need a passport or tarjeta de residencia plus proof of housing: a deed or nota simple, a current rental contract with the last two months' receipts, or written authorisation from the holder. All padrón procedures are free. Official source

How do I get the tarjeta SIP in Valencia?
You request the tarjeta SIP online through the procedure «Alta de un ciudadano en el Sistema de Información Poblacional (SIP)» with a digital certificate or Cl@ve, or in person at the centro de salud closest to your home. Bring your identity document (DNI/NIE); the Conselleria also recommends a certificado de empadronamiento less than six months old and the INSS document proving your healthcare entitlement. EU citizens bring their European Health Insurance Card; people without regular status should ask the centro de salud to refer them to the trabajador/a social sanitario/a. Which transport pass should I get in Valencia and how do I obtain the card?
For everyday travel use the integrated SUMA tickets, valid on Metrovalencia, EMT, MetroBus and Renfe Cercanías: SUMA 10 (10 trips), SUMA Mensual (monthly), Móbilis30 / SUMA Mensual Jove for ages 15 to 30 with a Carnet Jove, and SUMA T1/T2/T3 for 24/48/72 hours. The price depends on the zone combination (A, B, C, D and their combinations) and does not include the Tarjeta SUMA itself. Personalised ATMV cards for SUMA tickets are requested through the SIGAPunT website, while Metrovalencia-only cards (TuiN, TuiN Jove, Gent Major) require registering on the website and collecting the card at the Espais in Xàtiva, Colón, Benimaclet or Alacant. Children under 10 ride metro and tram free with an adult holding a valid ticket (max two children per ticket). Official source
