Expato is an independent project for Ukrainian and Eastern-European expats: guides, a verified directory of professionals and an AI assistant in Russian, Ukrainian, Spanish and English.
Why we exist
Moving to Spain is full of bureaucracy — NIE, empadronamiento, doctors, schools, temporary protection. Most resources exist only in Spanish or English. We gather verified, up-to-date information in your own language so decisions come faster and without predatory middlemen.
Who's behind this
Expato is a small independent team living in Spain that went through the same relocation. We are not a law firm or a consultancy: we are an editorial team that gathers, verifies and translates practical information and connects you with trusted Russian- and Ukrainian-speaking professionals.
How we verify the directory
We list a business that genuinely speaks Russian or Ukrainian or is built for expats. We check the language against its website and primary sources, not its advertising claims, and we exclude dubious or fraudulent offers. Spot a mistake? Tell us and we'll fix it.
Editorial principles
Legal and status topics (visas, taxes, residence) are checked against primary sources — BOE, AEAT, Seguridad Social, Min. Inclusión — and every guide shows its update date. Where sources conflict, we show the options rather than passing off a guess as fact.
Languages and coverage
We help in four languages — Russian, Ukrainian, Spanish and English — across Spain, focusing on cities with large Ukrainian and Eastern-European communities.
