Common questions about living in Alicante

How do I register for empadronamiento in Alicante and what documents do I need?
Registration (alta) in the Padrón Municipal is done in person with a cita previa at OAC «Labradores» (C/ Labradores, 14) or OAC «Séneca» (C/ Portugal, 17); book by phone on 010 / 900 153 862, or for OAC Séneca also online at citaprevia.alicante.es. If several people register at the same address, one cita is enough. Bring a valid original ID (non-EU: TIE or passport; EU: passport or national ID plus NIE) and proof of housing: ownership documents or a utility bill, a current rental contract in your name with the latest receipt and a copy of the landlord's ID, or the owner's authorisation with a copy of their ID. Foreign documents must be officially translated into Spanish; with a digital certificate or DNIe you can file the application online through the Ayuntamiento platform. Official source
Where is the Oficina de Extranjería in Alicante and how do I book a cita previa?

How do I get the SIP tarjeta sanitaria in Alicante?
If you are registered with the Seguridad Social and have healthcare coverage, go to your nearest centro de salud with your DNI/NIE; the Conselleria de Sanitat also recommends bringing a current certificado de empadronamiento (within six months) and the INSS document proving your right to assistencia sanitaria, and the centre will register you in SIP and issue the card. With a certificado digital or Cl@ve you can register online through the trámite «Alta de un ciudadano en el Sistema de Información Poblacional (SIP)» and collect the card at the centro de salud. If you have no coverage, ask the centro de salud to refer you to the trabajador/a social sanitario/a, who assesses access to Asistencia Sanitaria Universal. The SIP card is physical or virtual in the GVA+Salut app and is valid throughout Spain. Official source
